It’s no secret that ants have had a social structure since the beginning. As humans we seek to understand their world and we tend to study it a lot along with their behavior and anatomy. Ants are truly complex and in order for them to not invade your home, a complex system of treatment would be required. There is, however, several steps you can take in prevention, but also we encourage you to take action by contacting us if you are suffering from an ant infestation. But, first let’s get to know these complex, social creatures.

The colony

So, there is this Queen and she lays eggs. She has a colony of short-lived males and worker females that forage for food. They build their colony in a maze underground.

The chemicals

Worker ants forage for food and if they find a crack or hole, they will enter and begin the hunt. Once a worker ant finds a good supply of food, and definitely food humans like as well, a trail of chemical begins. One ant begins communicating with another, passing down an important message and leaving a trail of pheromones for all worker ants to follow.

The Food

It turns out that ants love the food we love: feeding on sweet foods, greasy materialss, tarchy substances, food and all kinds of plant and animal materials.

Preventive Measures

  • Seal cracks and crevices to eliminate a way for ants to get into your home.
  • Scrub down any entry points with dish detergent to get rid of pheromones and spray with insecticide.
  • Keep your home tidy and clean up after food debris and spills. Storing food properly also helps with

preventing the return of ants.
